Quarteira

Already in Roman times there was a Quarteira then under the name of Carteia. The name Carteia appear  here and were in today’s Quarteira that became city in 1999. The resort is a very popular place for Portuguese and Spaniards to celebrate holidays.

The beaches are long and you can find your own little place if you want to be a bit more undisturbed.

 In front of the beach is the promenade Avenida Infante de Sagres with many restaurants and bars.

 There is also the fish and vegetable market which is open all mornings all week. The fishing harbour is located right next to the fish market, which is a guaranty for fresh fish.

 It is nice to watch the fishing boats coming in with their catches. Do you want to fish yourself from any of the piers you can do so. Many Portuguese do but I do not know if fish can be guaranteed.

 If you get bored of sitting in the sand, there is a lot of fun to do.
